Father Gorran’s Last Service as Vicar of Saint Martin’s - April 11th 2021.

On April 11th Father Gorran led our Service for the last time as Vicar of Saint Martin’s as he leaves us for a well-earned Retirement.

At the end, Churchwarden Julia Rolls read a letter from Bishop Nicholas of Plymouth in which he expressed the gratitude, affection and respect that we all feel for Father Gorran and Churchwarden Kim Hewings thanked him on behalf of us all for the twenty-nine years of service he has given us in this Parish.

He in turn promised us that though he would no longer be our Vicar, we would be ‘Friends Forever’.

Here are some photos taken at the end of the Service, when he was presented with gifts on behalf of the Parish.

At Father Gorran’s insistence, this Service was a normal Sunday morning service for the regular congregation of Saint Martin’s. Under the current restrictions we could not encourage greater numbers to attend or offer any hospitality or opportunity to mingle.

BUT on 13th November, he is to return to us for our Patronal Festival - on the nearest Saturday to Saint Martin’s Day - to Celebrate and Preach at our Sung Mass, and also to bless our Sacristy, following the completion of the re-ordering work this Summer. This, then, will be his proper Farewell, when we hope that friends near and far can travel to be with us. So for now, it is only ‘Au revoir’, and we send our love and prayers with him as he organises his move to be with his family in Cornwall.
