Saint Martin's is an Anglican church (Church of England), serving the communities of Hele and Barton in Torquay.

Throughout its history, Saint Martins has had a succession of devoted priests who have tirelessly preached the Christian message and faithfully ministered to the parish. Their legacy, and therefore our cherished tradition, is that our services have a Catholic ethos, which means that our building, worship and prayer life are beautified and enriched by the use of candles, incense, vestments, statues and so on. It also means that we make appropriate use of ceremonial and a good variety of music to mark the different seasons of the liturgical year.

The Mass and the Blessed Sacrament are the central focus in the life of our parish. The Blessed Sacrament is the bread and wine which, when consecrated by an ordained bishop or priest, becomes the Body and Blood of Christ during the Mass. Perpetual reservation takes place in the church at all times so the sacrament is available for taking Holy Communion to the sick and housebound.

Saint Martin's is faithful to the traditional threefold male ordained ministry and historically passed Resolutions A & B under the Priests (Ordination of Women) Measure 1993. It has now passed the new Resolution that asks that arrangements be made for this parish in accordance with the House of Bishops' Declaration on the Ministry of Bishops and Priests.

We have a reputation for being a warm, welcoming church. We hope to extend that warmth and welcome to you at some point in the near future.

We are part of the Mission Community of Our Lady and All the Saints Torquay
