Saint Martin's Patronal Festival - Saturday November 13th 2021
Father Gorran's Farewell Service
and
Dedication of our Reordered Sacristy

Father Gorran retired as Vicar of St. Martin’s in April at a time when we were under such restrictions that we could not give him the Farewell he deserved. So we invited him to return for a very special St. Martin’s Day Service (on the Saturday nearest to November 11th) and also asked him to bless our Sacristy following its reordering. So we were able to have a proper Sung Service, followed by a Buffet in the Church Hall, and invite many more people to be present for the occasion.

These are some photos taken on the day, and also some taken the following week showing our Sacristans now in action using our new facilities. Also the flowers arranged both for this occasion and our Remembrance Sunday Service which took place the following day.

The Reordering was made possible by a very generous legacy by Maud Sutherland and donations from her family. We were glad that her nephew Clive Shrubsole was able to be present for the occasion.

Many thanks to Father Gorran for returning, both so that we could give him a proper farewell and to be present for the completion of the project launched under his supervision. Many thanks also to all the volunteers who helped to make November 13th a fitting occasion, to all those who were able to join us in celebration, and to all those unable to join us but who sent us messages of encouragement and good wishes.
